The Best Oil Facial Cleanser

Spread the love

Have you heard of cleansing your face with oil?  It’s been the rage in Japan for years and has just now reached popularity in the US.  Dermatologists are now recommending oil facial cleansing for their patients.  But why?  Isn’t it counterintuitive to slather oil all over your face to clean it?  Is it really better for your skin?  Does it clog pores?  We’ll answer these questions for you and tell you about the very best oil facial cleanser.

For All Skin Types

Cleansing oils mimic the oil that naturally occurs on your skin, regardless of your skin type, according to Dr. Ariel Ostad.  A facial cleansing oil works to dissolve the bad oils your face collects during the day and when you rinse it off, the “good” oil takes the “bad” oil with it along with makeup and dirt.  Water-based cleaners can’t do this.  Additionally, water-based cleansers contain surfactants (detergents and foaming agents) that strip oil from the face causing oil glands to work overtime.  (Hey men!  You can use this product as well!)

You may say, “but I use baby oil.  It’s gentle”.  Did you realize that baby oil contains mineral oil, lanolin, and fragrance – all which inhibit the ability of the skin to breathe and can block pores? Cleansing oils remove impurities, maintain skin moisture barrier and do not clog pores!

One of the most amazing things about facial cleansing oils is that they can be used on different types of skin—including combination and oily skin!  As the oil begins to lift dirt and open pores, individuals with acne or very oily skin may notice an initial increase in oil production on the face.  Do not despair!  The skin adapts very quickly to its new found freedom and oil pores will readjust and begin to produce exactly the right amount of sebum for your skin.  It may actually turn out that this is the best face wash for oily skin!

Another advantage is that with repeated use, a cleansing oil can help tone and smooth the texture and appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.  You can fight adult acne and provide anti-aging benefits to your skin at the same time – naturally!

How to Cleanse With an Oil Cleanser

Cleansing has never been easier, so refreshing or soothing to the skin!

Deep cleansing is more necessary at night than in the morning due to wearing makeup which actually collects facial dirt during the day.  However, if you would like there’s no problem with cleansing twice daily.  If you do choose to oil cleanse again in the morning, your face is clean and ready for serum, moisturizer, and makeup.

  1. Cleansing should begin with clean hands.  Wash your hands prior to applying the cleansing oil.
  2. All you’ll need are some soft towelettes (I use baby wipes rinsed out) or a soft washcloth, your oil cleanser and hot, running water.  (Not scalding water)
  3. Then dampen your clean hands and place 2-3 drops of the ultra-lightweight cleansing oil in the palm of your hand to warm the oil before applying it to the face.  Yes – you apply straight onto your face with makeup, sunscreen, stubborn concealer and 24-hour mascara on it!   No need to use a makeup remover first! How to Use OIl Facial Cleanser
  4. Gently massage the face in slow, firm upward motions, including the eye area to remove mascara (the 24-hour kind as well).  You will notice that the oil becomes creamy and milky as it begins to dissolve the day’s collection of grime, dirt, and makeup.  Work the oil deeply into the pores.
  5. Once you’re satisfied that all of the day’s grime is dissolved, wet your towelette or washcloth in the warm, steamy water and begin to wipe away the day’s woes, grime and all.  The idea is not to scald the skin but to provide comforting warmth and an environment that encourages the dissolution of impurities in your pores.  Cold water is not advised as it will not aid in the removal of dirt in the pores.
  6. You’re providing your skin with a facial essentially as an esthetician would, but without the use of a steam machine!  Feel free to allow the warm washcloth to remain on your skin to further open pores for deeper cleansing.

After wiping the face (notice the 24-hour mascara is completely gone), splash warm water on your face and pat dry.  You’ll notice it rinses off quickly, leaving behind a dewy, soft and non-greasy finish to the skin.

At this point, you are ready to proceed with apply serum and moisturizer and proceed either with makeup (in the morning) or going to bed.  Remember to sleep on a clean pillowcase as well!

It’s What’s Inside that Counts

In an article in SELF magazine, Dr. Zeichner of Sinai Medical Center says to read labels carefully and select a cleansing oil suited for your skin.  He suggests looking for cleansers that contain grapeseed, argan, lavender or coconut oils.

After reviewing over 20 different brands of oil cleansing products on the market and reviewing the listing of oils in all of the formulations and based on personal and customer feedback, the very best oil facial cleanser on the market is from a small, company called Oliomanna.  The formulation was developed by the pharmacist owner and is the only one that contains the very oils recommended by Dr. Zeichner!

It contains:

We’ve been blinded by media and marketing to forget that 100 years ago, everything you took orally for healing and put on your body to heal or cleanse was handmade by a pharmacist.  Isn’t it time to revisit the concept that handmade by a pharmacist could actually be preferable to something produced for profit by mass manufacturing?  Treat yourself to the best oil facial cleanser on the market by OlioManna today!

  1. Our skins need to be cleaned and most of the time we use products from pharmacy and most of the time caused other bad effects to our skin.

This kind of oil facial cleanser seems to be effective and natural.

I wish i would order online to clean my skin but i am not sure if i will afford the price.

    Thank you for sharing

    1. Julienne – thank you for reading my post.  This facial cleanser is half the price of the drug store cleansers.  Click n the link or the picture to order.  I’m sure you’ll be so pleased with the results.  All the best to you!

  2. I’ve never heard of this, but i would really like to try it!  I’m over 55 and have had “oily” skin my whole life.  I also started suffering from rosacea.  I would frequently have adult break-outs, either from acne or from rosacea (?), and I’m reallly tired of it!  I am really interested in trying this, I definitely want all natural ingredients for my face.

    Thanks for the info!

    1. Hi Robin!  this product is getting rave reviews from everyone who has tried it and we’ve lots of repeat customers who won’t use anything else on their faces!  It is all natural and the best part is that you’ll use 100% of the product as the vacuum assures complete use of the container!  Thanks so much for reviewing my article!  All the best!

  3. This is an interesting article in regards to proper cleaning of the skin. I never would have thought that natural oils would help in cleaning your skin. I like the fact that it is an all natural plant based product and I believe others who want clean and clear skin would look for these benefits as well. Also that it is a product made in the USA and supports small business goes a long way also. Overall the article is very well written and is very informative. Keep up the great work!

    1. Thank you so much Chris. The Formulation is my own and it is a remarkable priduct!  Guys and girls alike would benefit from its use and I appreciate that you are supportive of small business and made in the USA!  I often cring when I read product ingredients listed by mass manufacturing. The all mighty dollar gets in the way of providing true natural benefits!  Thanks for your support!

  4. This just reconfirms my thoughts on using a more natural product, rather than chemicals on my face.  I’ve been cleaning my face with coconut oil atr night for about a year now.  I find that my skin is really soft, especially in our cold winters.  I tried using it during the day as well as a moisturizer, but I found that it just made my mascara run a lot and my face look like a butterball lol

Thanks for these great tips and products.  And I’m glad I’m no longer considered weird for using oil on my face every night 🙂

    1. Oh Nicki – you are so right about using the coconut oil in the daytime.  The Best Oil Facial Cleanser gets around that by using the lighter weight coconut triglycerides – same benefit without the greasiness!  You’ve got the link to use if you want to try it!

      All the best my dear!

  5. Very interesting post. I mean, who would think of cleansing their face with oil? Especially when you have oily skin. I have a “normal to oily” skin type so I am very particular with what I use to wash and cleanse my face. Most of the time, mild soap plus some light facial cleansers are enough and it’s what I’ve been using for years now. However, I noticed lately that my face feels and looks dry. So I thought I should put on some facial moisturizer, but it did not help. I guess it has something to do with the facial cleanser I’m using. I would really like to try this oil facial cleanser but I’m not sure it’s affordable and if OlioManna will ship anywhere outside the United States.

    1. It is so counter-intuitive isn’t it?  Yet, it is so effective that everyone who has tried the oil cleansing method is captivated by what it does for their skin!  Additionally, things that are labeled as “beauty bars” – ie Dove – are really not soaps in the truest since – they contain detergents!   Yep.  And advertised in a way to make you think they are moisturizing.  A real “soap” by its very nature is moisturizing, because it is formulated with what are called non or unsaponifiable fats – or oils that stay in their original state and are deposited on your skin as the saponified oils in the soap cleanse your skin.  If you will Private Message me, I can help you obtain the product.

Thank you for reading my article!  All the best!

  6. Thank you for allowing me to enter a predominately female world of skin cleanser. As a 62 year old male I probably would not use this product but the wife definitely will. You have given us lots of information. One question I do have and I hope you have an answer. Is there a product you can suggest for extremely oily hair? I have to wash my hair daily due to the amount of oil that builds up.

    1. Hey Donnie!  I have a couple more articles I’ve just written on the treatment of dandruff and on jojoba oil I’d love for you to read as each discusses the scalp and ways of regulating oil (sebum) production on the scalp.  It could be that you are causing rebound oiliness by using a shampoo that is so detergent, the poor oil glands on your head think they have to work overtime because you are literally stripping the hair shaft dry with each shampoo.  Give these articles a read, and if you have any questions, just comment on the article and I’ll get right back to you!

All the best!  Hope to hear from you soon!  Sharon
